407 ETR Raises Rates – AGAIN!!!


How much is too much? 407 ETR raises rates, again. Depending on what part of the highway and what time you travel on it, you are now paying the following:

But wait that’s not all they have also worked in a per trip fee of $1.00 and a monthly lease/account fee of $3.75. It doesn’t matter if you have a transponder; all trips on this toll highway will cost you $1.00/trip, plus $3.75 regardless of the account, plus the exorbitant costs per kilometer. If you don’t have a transponder; you will be paying an extra $4.05 per trip and if their equipment can’t recognize your plate, you will have to pay an extra $50.00 to help them with their technology.

Do you still think this highway is a better, preferred option to travel on? Well I would say fools and their money are easily parted.

    Just to clarify, the two transponder charges listed are separate, those who choose to pay for their transpoder monthly pay $3.75 month, those who choose to pay for the year up front pay $23.50 (which just went up from $22 I think, wish my salary went up so often at such percentage increases!!).

    So if you pay yearly, you’re paying $1.96/month, not $3.75, and you don’t incur that monthly $3.75 fee in addition to your statement if you’ve paid for the year.

    At the end of the day, the best way to beat these crooks is to not use their services, similarly the best way to beat scalpers is not to buy tickets from anyone other than the artist or original ticket vendor. If there is no supply, the practise stops. If no-one is using 407ETR, they’ll HAVE to lower the rates.

      There is a larger discussion. The need for options to travel. In September 2015, 407 ETR sponsored an event called “The Future of the Car”. In attendance was many of our political leaders. They are selling their scheme merely as an option to travel. So all the policies on how a highway gets built goes out the window. A highway doesn’t get built unless a need is established. What 407 ETR is now saying is… yeah the need is there, but there should be an option to pay a price to travel quicker. I have a serious issue with this spin because of eminent domain issues and land put aside for public use being taken over by private enterprise.

    I just checked the NY State Thruway for an equivalent distance and the toll is $2.20 for 31.4 miles and ETR 27.39 for 49 Km.

    I ALSO LOOKED UP FOR AN EXPLANATION OF SOME OF THE ADDITIONAL CHARGES ON THE ETR WEBSITE AND THE DESCRIPTIONS ARE WEAK!

    I TRY TO AVOILD BUT THIS IS THE ONLY GAME IN TOWN? SINCE THE GOV’T OF ONT PASSED LAWS IN FAVOUR OF THIS . PERHAPS THEY CAN THREATEN TO PASS A LAW TO TAX THE !!!!^^%& OUT OF THE COMPANY FOR TAKING PROFITS OUT OF THE COUNTRY.
